Relief Society Lesson #23: The Sacrament
by Kelly Ann
For this lesson, I have prepared a list of questions to prime thought and discussion regarding the topic of the Sacrament. However, I would like to strongly encourage reader’s comments and ideas to supplement this post (as we don’t have a full outline due to several circumstances). Furthermore, as we need to make the new schedule for the rest of the gospel principles manual, if you would like to guest post a full outline next year, please email me at kalanierATgmail
What is the significance of the Sacrament? What exactly are we remembering and what are we promising? What is the importance of a covenant? What do the emblems of the sacrament teach about the Atonement of Jesus Christ? How can we remember the history of the Sacrament when we partake of it? What examples of the Sacrament do we have in the scriptures and church history? How does our ordinance compare to other faiths? Is there a communal aspect to the Sacrament? Why is the frequency of the ordinance important? Are there ever reasons not to partake? Why are the words of the prayers important? How can we foster reference during the Sacrament? How can we remember Christ at all times as we promise? Do we loose the spirit if we don’t take the Sacrament? What type of attitude should we have when taking (or not taking) the Sacrament? How can we help children around us properly approach the Sacrament? How can we feel edified before, during, and afterwards? What do you personally feel to be the most important part of the Sacrament?
