Hand in Hand

No man can serve two masters, or so the scriptures say.
But I am no man, nor is She, and what if One means They?

And what if hand in hand They caused the mountain peaks to rise,
Placed creeping things upon the earth, the winged things in the skies?

What if hand in hand They painted sunsets, filled the sea,
Weaved together all that is in perfect harmony?

What if hand in hand They gathered dust and breathed a prayer,
Bestowing gifts of love upon each soul with tender care?

What if hand in hand They blessed, each one an equal giver,
And sang the song of perfect love across each hill and river?

With neither standing taller, did they marvel hand in hand?
Gaze upon their children as they spread across the land?

Perhaps on Calvary’s Hill two godly hearts broke side by side,
And in Gethsemane, two kept Their promise to abide.

I think I made a promise, too – a vow through time and space.
But now, my God is incomplete. I cannot see Her face.

I kneel down in my sacred grove to calm my restless soul.
My heart is tired. My light is dim. Why should I feel unwhole?”

“I know not where they laid Her, Lord. I worry they forgot.
My words are deemed but idle tales. My path to Her is fraught.”

“Where can I turn for peace?” I cry. “I do not know the way.”
Then truth descends. A gentle wind breathes, “They. Only They.”
