Virtual Oases: Earth Day Edition
Last night I attended a “Green Tie Gala.” (My husband’s school, which boasts one of the “greenest” buildings in America, was being honored.) As we munched on organic food, read our recycled programs, and enjoyed our potted, indigenous-flower centerpieces (one of which is now planted in my yard), I thought about how much more eco-conscious I’ve become in the last year. Is it my husband’s job? Friendships with eco-friendly Jana and Caroline? The surge of news stories that are finally making a dent in my thick skull? I still need to replace some of my bulbs, but darn it if I don’t turn down that thermostat during the day and recycle all my bottles. Baby steps heading a good direction.
