Your Mom's Jeans

I struggle constantly with trying to balance my desire to dress fashionably with my need to dress comfortably and appropriately for my age. And I have a few pairs of “Mom Jeans” [Note:Though none of them have pleats, I promise!]. So this short video spoof totally cracked me up:

Someday I hope to have the time to go out and find me some hip & cool jeans (not Mom jeans), but that desire is never compelling enough to actually get me to the department store. If you have any recommendations for stylish, good fitting jeans, I’d love to hear them. In the meantime I’ll keep wearing my homely jeans and hoping that my kids aren’t too embarrassed by my lack of fashion sense. 🙂

  1. One of my favorite SNL skits of all time. You should check out this site. It’s pretty great. I for one need to try on jeans before making a purchase, but at least this site can point you in the right direction based on your body type and your style preferences whether it’s up to the waist mom jeans or wax before wearing, butt cleavage jeans or something in between :).

  2. I like J.Jill for making jeans that come up just high enough that I don’t feel like I’m falling out, but shaped right for my body. I especially like their boot cut/straight leg.

  3. I love jeans. I generally have 5 or 6 pairs that I wear at any given season.

I personally like jeans from The Limited. They’re not too expensive – around $50. But I’ve also found some cute cheap jeans at Kohls.

  4. Jana, I love my Lucky Brand jeans. They cost over $100 if you buy them at a Lucky store, not on sale, BUT they also frequently have them at Down East Outfitters (if you don’t mind irregulars–I don’t, so long as they fit properly), if you’re ever in Utard. I got all mine there for $25-30/pair.
